On Thursday, Sept. 24, Pope Francis will be in Washington to speak to the full U.S. Congress about climate change and poverty in our world — also the themes of his new papal encyclical “Laudato si” that calls for our collective bold action to transition from dirty fossil fuels to clean energy.

Join us on Sept. 24 at Aksarben Cinema in Omaha — or Westminster Presbyterian Church in Lincoln — for a group viewing of Pope Francis’s address to Congress, and a discussion on climate change and poverty.

The Pope is scheduled to address Congress in the morning; we’ll gather in the evening to watch a recording of the Pope’s full remarks, followed by a discussion on the Pope’s message led by local leaders of the faith, science and environmental communities that will include ways that Nebraskans can #ActOnClimate.

The event is sponsored by Nebraska Interfaith Power & Light, Bold Nebraska, Green Omaha Coalition, Citizens Climate Lobby, Nebraska Sierra Club, Nebraska Wildlife Federation, Protectors of the Ogallala, Nebraskans for Solar, and Nebraska 350.
