Prayer vigil for new immigration law Thursday in Omaha

This year, thousands of Nebraskans have shown their support for Congress to pass updated immigration laws that keep families together, make our economy stronger, and move us forward as a state and country.

Join us Thursday, November 7, for a prayer vigil for immigration reform outside Congressman Lee Terry’s Omaha office.  A host of Omaha faith leaders will lead supporters and stakeholders in prayer, highlighting the moral and practical urgency for the House to take action on immigration this year.

What: Prayer vigil for immigration reform

When: Thursday, November 7, Noon

Where: Outside Congressman Lee Terry’s office, 11717 Burt Street, Suite 106, Omaha

The House has 19 working days left in 2013 and Nebraskans across the state will be calling for action on immigration during the recess. In addition to the Omaha vigil, families and faith leaders will be holding a press conference in Columbus, and many others across the state will be holding meetings and making phone calls to their representatives asking for modernized immigration laws with a clear and attainable path to citizenship.

Momentum is surging in both parties for the House of Representatives to take action on an immigration bill yet this year that includes a path to citizenship, and President Obama has said it is one of his top priorities.

While Nebraska’s House members are back home during a Congressional recess, you have the chance to join us to show your support for passing a law that fixes our outdated immigration system.

Please join us Thursday for this peaceful faith gathering in support of updating our immigration laws and keeping Nebraska’s families together.

In this important moment, please also call or write your congressman and ask him to support H.R. 15 to modernize our immigration system.  Let them know Nebraska families, businesses, and communities are counting on them to accomplish a common-sense immigration law with a clear and attainable process for citizenship!
