Since 2009, Bold Nebraska has stood with farmers, ranchers, Tribal Nations, environmental advocates and everyday Nebraskans who care about ensuring a livable climate for our grandchildren, and worked to protect our land, water, and climate.
Bold is endorsing these Lincoln-area Climate Champions in 2020:
Christa Yoakum for Lancaster County Commissioner
Eliot Bostar for Nebraska Legislature, District 29
Brodey Weber for Nebraska Legislature, District 21
Christa Yoakum is running for the Lancaster County Commission. With Christa’s leadership, we were able to stop the expansion of Costco’s risky chicken barns, which would have polluted our land and water. Christa was also a decisive vote on bringing more solar to Lancaster County.
Eliot Bostar helped manage the Build Our Energy Barn that we placed directly in the path of the Keystone XL pipeline. Eliot is now running for Legislature in the Lincoln area (LD29). For the past several years, Eliot led the Nebraska League of Conservation Voters, where he helped make sure our Public Power Boards were represented by Nebraskans who believe in climate change and property rights.
Brodey Weber was a grassroots organizer against the expansion of Costco’s factory chicken barns in Lancaster County. If elected to the Nebraska Legislature in the Lincoln area (LD21), he plans to introduce a bill to prohibit large-scale Contained Animal Feeding Operations (CAFOs) near schools without local school board approval, and put stronger water protections in place for the Ogallala Aquifer. Imagine a Senator who lifts up family farmers over corporate Ag — Brodey is our guy.
TC Energy’s original Keystone oil pipeline recorded its 22nd spill on Dec. 7, 2022. According to Reuters, “An emergency shutdown and response was initiated at about 9 p.m. CT on Dec. 7 after alarms and a pressure drop in the system, the company said in a release, adding booms were deployed to control downstream migration […]
UPCOMING MEETINGS: The Nebraska Easement Action Team (N.E.A.T.) and Bold Nebraska are hosting another round of landowner meetings, to share information and hear landowners’ concerns about eminent domain and proposed carbon pipeline projects. Meetings will be held in Wayne, Columbus, Norfolk and Grand Island, kicking off with another virtual meeting for landowners on Thursday, Feb. […]
#1: SAFETY In the event of a carbon pipeline rupture or leak, an explosive plume of CO2 gas can emerge, odorless and colorless, an asphyxiant that can suffocate all living beings, and prevent combustion vehicles like cars from starting to enable an escape to safety. At concentrations between 2-10%, CO2 can cause nausea, dizziness, headache, […]
