Today, House Republicans led by John Boehner and Nebraska’s own Lee Terry will once again attempt to force approval of the Keystone XL Pipeline by attaching it to a 90-day extension of the federal transportation bill.  House members will vote on H.R. 4348, the Surface Transportation Extension Act sometime this afternoon.

This is once again another example of Washington Republicans working on behalf of TransCanada.  This bill is unneccessary, especially since the Senate has already passed a bipartisan version of the transportation bill, H.R. 14.

The president is on our side on this issue.  A policy statement by the Obama administration indicates that he will veto H.R. 4348 bill if it passes.

We still need to show our support for the president’s stance, and let our lawmakers know that Nebraskans do not want fast-track approval of a pipeline until we have seen a route and have had a public process to determine the safest path for a new pipeline in Nebraska.

Please contact your representative in the House now and tell them to vote No on H.R. 4348:
