On Friday, June 27, the Cowboy and Indian Alliance hosted a celebration (“Buffalo Roast, TransCanada is Toast“) to mark the expiration on June 29 of TransCanada’s permit with the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission to build its proposed Keystone XL tarsands pipeline.
The buffalo roast was held at the Rosebud Sioux Spirit Camp, a tipi camp set up in March on tribal lands near Ideal, South Dakota to protest Keystone XL. MSNBC’s “The Ed Show” sent a crew and satellite truck to report live from the event, interviewing Bold Nebraska director Jane Kleeb and Rosebud Sioux spokesman Wizipan Little Elk at the camp.
