Grandmothers’ Apple Pie Brigade Goes Global

  • Who: The Grandmothers’ Apple Pie Brigade, a group of grandmothers and others concerned about providing a sustainable planet for future generations.
  • What: Going global: they will announce the creation of a website and other means of connecting grandmothers and other like-minded people from across the country to support efforts for a sustainable planet for our children and grandchildren.
  • When: Tuesday July 2, 2013 at 11 a.m.
  • Where: Rotunda of the Nebraska State Capitol, 1445 K St., Lincoln, Nebraska.
  • Background: The Grandmothers’ Apple Pie Brigade began by providing cookies and other baked goods to Governor Heineman in the fall of 2011 as a means of encouraging him to call a special session of the Legislature to deal with the Keystone XL pipeline. The Grandmothers’ Apple Pie Brigade will present messages and planned activities that clearly support the idea that the right decision on Keystone XL is NO pipeline, as a response to President Obama’s speech about the need to combat climate change in order to protect the future for our children and grandchildren.
