Summer means sun, and when the sun shines, Nebraskans can take advantage of harnessing that energy to power our homes and businesses.  Bold Nebraska believes in adding more small-scale, distributed energy generation, like rooftop solar, to more communities in our state.  Solar energy saves money, keeps the air clean, and creates jobs for installers and technicians who are being trained in Nebraska’s colleges right now.

For the month of May 2015, the Build Our Energy Barn built in the proposed path of the TransCanada Keystone XL pipeline produced 245 kWh of clean energy for Nebraska’s public power grid.  That is enough energy to power a refrigerator for 54 days.
